Surface Coating is an independent creative studio in New York, founded by creative director and image-maker Courtney Harvier. We build teams around the work, bringing together photographers, filmmakers, producers, stylists, designers and emerging creative technologies to create campaigns and experiences from concept through delivery.
The studio was built on craft. Lighting, casting, location, the edit. That discipline is what makes new tools useful instead of generic, and it is why we bring AI into the work where it earns its place and leave it out where it does not. The technology will change every few months. Knowing what a good frame looks like will not.
